Anyone that enjoys the television show “Supernatural” is aware of the third most popular cast member, Dean’s black 1967 4-door Chevy Impala. This amazing piece of automotive beauty has been affectionately named Metallicar.

What makes Metallicar special? It’s actually unique for one thing. Most 67 Impalas were only two-door, but certain models were made as a 4-door model to be used as police cars. The Metallicar is a standard police issue Impala painted black.

The 67 Impala SS was built for speed and performance with a 348 cubic inch V8 on the smaller version and a 409 cubic inch V8 with 425 horsepower. The 67 version was less than previous years and was made to look slick and sleek without all the pretension of earlier models. The Metallicar has been refurbished and updated without taking the look of the classic Impala away.

The brothers Winchester on Supernatural travel the country in this car listening to classic rock and is as much a part of the show as the characters. It’s been in their family for decades and Dean in particular loves it more than any woman he has ever met.

This season hasn’t seen much of the Metallicar and the fans are aware of it. This is the dream car of many of the people who watch the show and its absence is palatable. The Metallicar had a story, it has a character and has been a part of this show since the beginning.

As iconic television cars go, the 1967 Chevy Impala Metallicar is one of the top favorites.

When most people think about dream cars, the think of high priced sports or classics, but sometimes car companies make a car that looks amazing and won't break the bank. The new Dodge charger takes the look of the original and modernizes it with some sleek curves and modern conveniences.

Lets start with how it looks. When I first saw one of these rolling down the street, I may have actually salivated. The original charger was a sweet looking car, is some varieties, but will forever be ruined by the Generally Lee. I hate that car, I think it look stupid. I don't care if you can shoot a bow and arrow out the side of it.

When I saw the new charger, it took me a second to figure out what it was. It reminiscent of the original charger, but with a little extra. If you are looking for a full out muscle care, this isn't it. It doesn't have the look of I want to race you at the stop light.

It's a strange mix of family sedan and sporty coupe. While this may not seem like a dream car to the single bachelor, it's the best a married guy with three kids is going to get for a while. It looks great and can still hold a couple baby seats in the back.

It has read LED lights that are quite a site from anyone stuck behind the car and act as a reminder that you're still in a grocery getter. The interior is meant for comfort and includes a suite of high tech gizmos that you won't find on the original.

My wife loves the movie Father of the Bride with Steve Martin and I have to admit a lot of admiration for the character of George Banks. He reminds me a lot of me, but rich. It was in this movie that I first say the hottest car in the world: Austin-Healey 3000.

You may have seen this in a few movies as it is a popular British sports car. It was originally made from 1959-1967, but a quick search on Google and you can still find many available for $30,000-$80,000. This is a pretty good price for a classic British sports car of its caliber.

The 3000 is an update of the 100 series, but doesn’t have too many changes from the original. The Mark I was the direct replacement to the 100 and there were about 13,700 of them made some as a two-seat and some as 4-seeat. It reached 115 miles per hour. There isn’t much notable about the Mark II, but the Mark III was the pinnacle of the Austin-Healey.

It was built from 1963-67 and was the most powerful of the cars. It had a 150 horsepower engine and many improvements from the Mark II. There were about 17,000 of these cars made.

The Austin-Healey is one of the sexist cars on the planet. It’s obviously a car for the more mature driver and not meant to be something for 18-year-old hot shots. They can ride about in their Porsche, but the sophisticated driver gets behind the wheel of an Austin-Healey.

Dodge Viper First Generation 92-95

I still remember the first time I ever saw the Dodge Viper. It was for a commercial for the new series Viper back when I was in high school. The series itself was completely forgettable, but the car has haunted my dreams ever since.

The Viper is a two-door roadster and one of the first V-10 sports cars on the market. It quickly became one of the signature cars of wealth and was featured in many television shows, movies and music videos. What made the Viper special was her engine. It was a recast of a V-10 truck engine made with an aluminum alloy.

This made it powerful and light able to reach 400 horsepower and 4600 rpms. For those less technically minded, it meant that it can go really fast very quickly. It had wide racing tires and you could get a speeding ticket just taking it out of the garage.

I remember the dealership in my small town had one in its display window. The owner knew and guy at corporate and secured it for him. You had to have $5,000 in your pocket just to test drive it. While I have never had the privilege of driving this beast of a car, this is about dream cars, I have known several people that did drive it. The consensus was that it was very very fast, but hard to steer. That may have had something to do with the tires.

There have been several generations since the original, but in my opinion, none have the beauty and style of the first. It is and always will be my dream car.
